Mumps Cases Reported at U of I
Reports of people with mumps are now showing up on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign.
School officials say nine students have been diagnosed with mumps so far. The cases are part of an outbreak that has already produced more cases this year than the state saw in all of 2013.
University health experts say the nine cases were found during spring break. A faculty member has what may be a 10th case.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says 65 other cases have been confirmed statewide, mostly in Morgan and Sangamon counties.
