Auto Parts Shortage Due to Winter Accidents
The winter weather has impacted many people negatively this year, but auto shops' businesses are booming due to the huge amount of cars getting into accidents.
With the snow and the ice hitting the country, controlling your car can be a challenge or even impossible. This is bad news for you, but great news for businesses.
We talked to Zara's Auto Body Shop here in Springfield. They say they have had an average of 100 cars in their lot to fix since we started getting hit with winter storms in January.
That's good news for business. But it has started a new problem: shortages of new car parts from manufacturers.
"If the new parts aren't available, not only are we in the same position lacking parts, but so is every other body shop in the country trying to find those same parts, so they aren't even available a lot of times in the salvage yards anymore," said Kim Woolard, a Customer Service Representative at Zara's.
According to auto shops, people have to go without their car for longer then necessary. According to rental car companies, the winter accidents have increased their business significantly.
