GOP Responds to Governor Quinn's State of the State Address
The Illinois Republican Party did not appear to be impressed by the Governor's State of the State speech.
While the Governor focused on what he calls a "comeback", republican leadership doesn't agree.
Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno and House Minority Head Jim Durkin say the Governor did not address the financial problems that the state is in, or the impending coming expiration of the tax increase.
Republican leaders are blaming the Democratic leadership for the state's bad financial situation.
"They've held both chambers and what have they been able to accomplish other than record deficits at every level in state government. You cannot blame the great recession anymore when other states in this country are doing quite well, particularly our surrounding states." says House Minority Head Jim Durkin.
Republicans say the focus needs to be on expanding the economy so people can earn their way out of poverty and making the state more business friendly.
They say the culture and attitude needs changing before the state's finances begin showing solid signs of improvement.
