"Play for the Cure" Donates Big Money for Breast Cancer Research
Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, that made the first of October the perfect day to present donations to a "pink" organization.
The first annual Play for the Cure, held at Brookhills Golf Club in June of this year, raised $15,000.
Nearly 100 women and their guests participated in the summer event to raise money for the fight against breast cancer.
Tuesday, the Play for the Cure committee donated funds to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
"Susan G. Komen Foundation is the largest funder, outside of the federal government, in breast cancer research, and all of us, we felt that was very, very important. The Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure was the best place for us to put our money," said Patty Schuh, a member of the Play for the Cure committee.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation will use the money to help fund events like Mammogram Mondays. The second annual Play for the Cure will be held on June 14, 2014 at Brookhills Golf Club.
