No Springfield Jaycees Haunted House
The Springfield area is going without a famed, local haunted house this year. It looks like a lack of volunteers and low membership will keep the Springfield Jaycees from opening a haunted house. This is the second year in a row it's happened now. At one point, there were hundreds of members in the Springfield Jaycees. Now they're down to less than 30. The project--they say-- is just too time consuming and costly for their limited resources.
"We need to build up our finances more, keep running the successful projects that do make the money, because haunted house, we do have to spend money each year to buy new wood and new supplies," Springfield Jaycees Treasurer Rachel Griminger said.
It costs $50 a year to be a member of the Springfield Jaycees. Their biggest expense is for upkeep and maintenance of the Jaycees building. If you want to get involved, go their website www.springfieldjaycees.org.
