Dawson Residents Prepare for Water Outage
No water? No worries. At least that's what a surprising number of Dawson residents said in response to Thursday's planned water outage.
"It ain't the first time we've had water outage. I'll deal with it as it comes," said Dawson resident Jeff Davis.
Water will likely be shut off around mid-morning as a leaky section of the village's water main is replaced. The best case scenario would have the water back on by the evening.
Though if it isn't, that could create some problems - some smelly ones that bottled water probably wouldn't solve.
"Well my boy's got football tomorrow night," said Lynn Rollins. "So if they don't have it back on, he's not gonna get a shower tomorrow night."
But there's a solution to that, too.
"Go to my aunt's and shower!" said his son, Jake.
To help with the lack of water, there will be three pallets of bottled water, donated by Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola, at the village offices.
"We basically had it for those people who are, for whatever reason, unable to get out," said village clerk Patricia Curry.
And the village fire department has already made its arrangements, too.
"Should we have an event, we will have additional apparatus responding from other communities to assist us," said Dawson Fire Protection District Fire Chief Mike Abbott.
And plans for four-legged friends are needed, too.
"We'll fill up his bowl," Rollins said of the family dog. "We'll have to give him bottled water, I guess."
