Quinn Signs Sex Ed Legislation
Illinois public schools that teach sex education will soon broaden their range of topics to include lessons on birth control and STDs.
Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation Friday requiring that students be taught about more than just abstinence.
Starting January 1, all Illinois public schools that teach sex education must implement this change.
According to a 2008 study, only 65 percent of public schools already teach about both birth control and abstinence.
