First Downtown Springfield Mural Completed
After two long months with weeks of rain and heat delays, the first mural of the Artification project of downtown Springfield has received its final touches.
Taking on the project was no small feat, but local artist Michael Mayosky was up for the challenge. He told us the mural is much more than just a beautiful visual for downtown Springfield. He said it's also a piece that gets people thinking.
Amongst the almost 300,000 painted squares that make up the Lincoln mural is a secret the artist hopes you will discover.
"Things I really hid was a series of numbers," Mayosky said. "There's five numbers in there, and each number relates to another Lincoln mural I've done--a numbered Lincoln. I'll tell you the one number that's in there is 66. The other numbers I'll never say. I'm hoping that they find this stuff out later down the road."
Mayosky has several Lincoln murals across the city. He said his last mural will be his 111th Lincoln, and he won't reveal its location.
But if you're willing and able to find the hidden numbers in his Lincoln murals, you may just be able to find it.
