Researchers Gather for Health Summit
Researchers and scientists from across the state of Illinois are discussing how humans and animals interact with the ecosystem.
It's all part of the One Health Summit in Champaign today.
Many researchers said it's an ongoing process, but discussing the health and preparedness of Illinois is important.
Organizers said humans, animals, and the ecosystem are all connected, and it's impossible for one to be healthy without the other two.
Speakers and presenters from departments of public health, agriculture, and more discussed how to work on health solutions.
John Hermann of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine said because so many organizations and agencies have a stake in the state's scientific well-being, it's important to share research and data between departments.
The summit was presented by the Center for One Health Illinois, which focuses its efforts through education, research, and outreach.
