Sangamon County Water Project Gets Federal Funding
A project to develop drinking water and a waste disposal system in two small towns in Sangamon County is getting a financial boost.
Today, U.S. Sen Dick Durbin announced a $1.7 million loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The money will help build extensions to the new water distribution system in Capital and Cotton Hill townships.
This project addresses public health issues that could come from using well water.
When complete, the system will serve almost 400 rural residents.
