Girl Saved in First-of-Kind Operation
A little girl from South Korea received a life-saving operation at Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria. Hannah Warren, 2, was born without a windpipe. She was kept alive by a tube inserted into her mouth and lungs. She had never eaten food or drank liquids or even swallowed on her own, until now.
Hannah underwent a pioneering, first-of-its-kind operation earlier this month. A team of international doctors gave her a new artificial windpipe made with her own stem cells in a groundbreaking transplant.
