Springfield Couple Sues Cop, City
A Springfield couple is suing a Springfield police detective and the city of Springfield. Erik and Andrea McCubbin say Detective Paul Carpenter threatened to shoot Erik after the officer allegedly ran Erik's wife off the road while driving his unmarked squad car.
Carpenter was fired from his job with the Springfield Police Department after he was arrested on charges of official misconduct and wire fraud. He was later cleared of those charges and was re-instated to the department in 2011.
Deputy Chief Cliff Buscher referred all comments regarding this case to the city's attorney. So far, our calls to the attorney have not been returned.
The lawsuit is seeking $50,000 in damages.
