Community Gathers for Governor's Prayer Breakfast
Hundreds of community members joined together this morning to recognize the importance of faith in our daily lives.
The 51st Annual Prayer Breakfast was led by Gov. Pat Quinn. The event featured Dr. Tom Jones, an ambassador from the Habitat for Humanity International office.
His main message was to keep interfaith groups together, working as advocates for causes that improve the common good.
"The needs in the world are greater than they have ever been," Jones said. "1.6 billion persons will face tonight without a decent place to sleep or live."
Habitat for Humanity has built more than 600,000 houses and works in 80 countries on six continents.
The goal of the interfaith event is to promote spiritual support for the governor and other officeholders in Illinois.
