Camp Lincoln to Get Geothermal System
Gov. Pat Quinn announced today that Camp Lincoln will receive money to install a geothermal system in the adjutant general's office building.
The $800,000 project will help the building cut down on energy costs. The project will include replacing the boiler and chiller equipment with a geothermal system.
The National Guard is happy about the savings they will have by installing the system.
"We're expecting this improvement to significantly reduce the overall energy use in the building by maybe as much as 30-40 percent," Lt. Col. Craig Holan said. "So we're excited about that. It's going to really reduce the energy costs in this building, so we are expecting a fairly rapid return on the investment."
The project will take between six and seven months, and is expected to begin by summer.
