Bill to Allow Felons TANF Funds Fails
Those convicted of drug-related felonies still won't be able to receive money from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families fund.
The bill, sponsored by Chicago Rep. Mary Flowers, sparked some heated debate on the House floor today. It would have allowed those convicted on drug-related charges to still be able to receive money from TANF.
Even with almost all Chicago Democrats voting "yes" on the bill, it failed on the House floor by a vote of 36 to 80.
