Quinn Announces Funding for Spring Construction
Several towns throughout the state will be getting road and bridge repairs when construction season gets back in full swing. Today, Gov. Pat Quinn announced nearly $500 million that's been set aside for spring construction projects.
The projects are part of Quinn's Illinois Jobs Now! program. Two separate million-dollar projects repairing bridges and roads are set to begin in Sangamon County in the coming weeks.
Macoupin and Macon counties will receive money for bridge replacements as well.
Quinn said these projects have an added bonus for the community: they'll provide well-paying jobs.
"As we just heard, these are well-trained people, men and women who really care, and that's what we gotta do," Quinn said. "Train people and get them ready for important jobs."
In all, nearly 200 road and bridge projects throughout the state will receive funding. Other projects include pedestrian structures, road resurfacing, bridge repair, and road widening.
