Memorial Service Held For Fatal Fire Victims
The Springfield community packed a local church Saturday to say goodbye to four members of one family who were killed in a house fire just over a week ago.
Visitation and memorial services were held for 63-year-old Victor Hudson, 55-year-old Douglas Oaddams, and brothers 14- and 16-year-old Deonte and Donald Lewis.
Bishop Samuel Carter presided over the service at Abundant Faith Christian Center. He said he's known the family for more than 20 years and hopes the community will come together in this tragedy.
"Lend a helping hand wherever you may find the opportunity to do it, and also say to others in our community, it's time for us to pull together, and stand together, for we are helpers of one of another if we work together," Carter said.
Contributions can be made to the Lewis Brothers Memorial Fund at any Illinois National Bank location. Family members say that no donation is too small, and they appreciate the help, generosity, and kindness they have received from the community.
