Springfield Drug Raid Uncovers Cocaine, Weapons
Springfield police conducted an early morning raid on a suspected drug house that also netted several weapons and ammo.
Marcus Moore is in custody after members of Springfield's Proactive Crime Unit executed a search warrant at Moore's house in the 1500-block of South Grand Avenue.
The search turned up small amounts of what police believe to be crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Several handguns and ammunition were also discovered.
Moore faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
Springfield Police Deputy Chief Cliff Buscher said today's raid is part of the department's continuing efforts to give residents quality of life.
"It took some guns off the street, it shut down a drug house in a neighborhood over there that the people don't need, so the traffic won't be there--people buying drugs and stuff," Buscher said.
In addition to the state charges, Moore may face federal charges.
