Pregnant Murder Victim's Family Pleas For Help

The brutal murder of a pregnant 24-year-old woman and mother of three remains unsolved. Springfield police said Andrea Pocklington was stabbed and shot to death New Year's Eve. Her 24-year-old friend Larry Grice was gunned down right next to her.

“I just fell apart and my husband could tell you I couldn't even stand," Pocklington’s aunt, Bridget Young, said. "My legs buckled under me. He was physically holding me up. I could not believe it."

Pocklington would often open her home to friends like Grice, even with three children. One child has advanced cerebral palsy and Pocklington had a fourth baby on the way.

“There's no human being with compassion to do what they did," Young said. "They're not people. These are monsters we're dealing with. And they're cowards."

Young's sister, Pocklington's mother, must now raise the three children herself. The family is stretched thin.

“Here we are, hat in hand, asking the public to help," Pocklington’s uncle, Tony Young, said.

Not only do they need help with money for the funeral and the kids, but information on who committed this heinous crime.

“Somebody saw something, somebody heard something," Young said.
Police are all ears.

“I've got six people out running right now that are tracking down leads, that are talking to people,” Deputy Chief Cliff Buscher said.

But there's not enough information to bring anyone to justice, and not enough power to bring Pocklington back home.

“I just want her back," Young said. "I want to tell her I love her, I want to hug her, I want to hold her."

Davis Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville has agreed to go ahead with a service for Pocklington and her unborn son on Monday even without the money, but they still need to be reimbursed.

Adding insult to injury, Pocklington's family, which doesn't even have enough money to bury her, must now come up with the money to clean up the horrific murder scene where their loved one was slaughtered.

If you want to help this family, you can donate to the Andrea Pocklington Memorial Fund at any Marine Bank in Springfield.
