42 Percent of Illinoisians Have No Savings
If an emergency were to happen to you, would have have money to cover it? According to a new study out of Washington, D.C., 42 percent of Illinoisans have almost no savings to fall back on in the event of job loss, health crisis, or other income-depleting emergency.
The study defines these residents as "liquid asset poor," meaning they lack adequate savings to cover basic expenses at the federal poverty level.
Illinois ranks 33rd overall for financial stability among residents.
