Attorney General Sues Corporate Records Service Over Scam
The Illinois attorney general is going after a Michigan company for posing as the Illinois secretary of state's office to scam business owners out of money. The lawsuit was filed today in Sangamon County court.
The company, called Corporate Records Service, is accused of sending direct mail solicitations that looked like they came from Jesse White's office, attempting to collect a $125-per-business fee for an Annual Minutes Records Form.
Illinois does not require corporations to fill out such a form, or pay any fee.
