Government Website Helps Illinois Find Jobs
It's like applying for a job at the click of a button. State officials showed off the Illinoisjoblink.com website today at the Salvation Army in Springfield.
The site allows people to create different online resume profiles for multiple career postings. The no-cost website gives employers an opportunity to see all the skills a person may have with the click of a button.
People have already began using the website, and members of Department of Employment Security said the job growth is showing in Illinois.
"We have over 70,000 resumes available for employers to hone in to the right person," Illinois Department of Employment Security director Jay Rowell said. "There is also 120,000 jobs and 5,000--nearly 5,000--area for people to go and apply for."
The department said Springfield-area opportunities include mechanics, welding, physical therapists, and truck driving. Some of the jobs include wages of more than $40,000.
The website connects qualified workers with ready-to-hire employers.
