St. John's Babies Wrapped in Pink in October
Every Friday in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, nurses at St. John's Hospital wrap all the babies, including the boys, in bright pink blankets. Then they attach a note explaining the "Real Men Wear Pink" program. The idea is to encourage the women in our lives to get regular screenings for breast cancer, including mammograms.
"If the men in their lives are promoting it and encouraging, then that's just one more step that we can get to hopefully prevent breast cancer, or at least catch it early," Susan Clements of St. John's said. "So it just brings awareness to all the family members."
The program was the brainchild of the nurses at St. John's, who started it last year.
