Bikers Rally for Ronald McDonald House
In support of local kids in need, about 150 bikers made the trip from Mattoon to Springfield Sunday.
Riders crossed the finish line around noon in the 25th Annual Gold Wing Ride for the Ronald McDonald House.
The ride raised money to cover the cost of the families who stay there. On average, the local Ronald McDonald House serves the families of 350 seriously ill children a year who come to Springfield seeking medical attention.
"They call it their town run, and they bring all kinds of things to benefit the house. Anything on their wish list," Ronald McDonald House Charities Executive Director Kelly Thompson said. "They bring pop tabs. And they typically make a very significant donation to the house as well."
The Gold Wing Road Riders Association - Illinois Chapter sponsored the ride.
