Wife of former prosecutor charged with arson
March 18, 2010 16:40 EDT
OTTAWA, Ill. (AP) -- Bond has been set at $200,000 for the wife of a former LaSalle County state's attorney charged with arson in connection with a fire at an Ottawa home.
Terri L. James is charged with felony residential arson and attempted arson for incidents on Ottawa's south side. The two-story brick house suffered substantial damage to the interior. There was no one home at the time.
The attempted arson charge alleges the 42-year-old James attempted to set fire to a commercial building located next to the home.
Authorities indicated witnesses to the incidents gave the same description of an auto seen leaving the scene.
Terri James is the wife of Mike James, who served as LaSalle County state's attorney from 1996 to 2000. Her case was assigned Thursday to the public defender's office, and an arraignment set for April 1.
