Mike Berman
WICS Weekend Sportscaster
Mike Berman couldn’t be happier to be back in his home state of Illinois as a part of the ABC NewsChannel 20 team. He joined WICS in October, 2006.
Originally from Northbrook, a suburb about 25 miles north of Chicago, Mike spent two years working as a sports producer, reporter and weekend anchor at KOMU in Columbia, Missouri. There, he covered a wide variety of stories, ranging from the Daniel Boone Little Leaguers making a trip to the Little League World Series to the tumultuous resignation of Missouri head basketball coach Quin Snyder. While in Columbia, he also lent his voice to Missouri Tiger Baseball as its PA Announcer for two springs.
Mike has a degree in Broadcast News from the world’s first and finest school of journalism at the University of Missouri. As a result, he’s a die-hard Mizzou fan – “I bleed black and gold, but don’t hate me too much around Braggin’ Rights time”. In addition, he’s a die-hard Bulls, Bears and – here comes the answer to that burning Central Illinois question – Cubs fan (“I just alienated half of the viewers, right?”).
When he’s not at the station, Mike likes to fish, play basketball and golf, as well as spend time with family and friends.
